We don't talk anymore.

Im not going to candy coat this. If I comment on your blog regularly and you never reciprocate I will no longer be commenting on or following your blog.We all put work into these posts and I feel like it's unfair for people to just take a free ride approach and never comment and if I'm a commenter on your blog why are so much holier than thou that you can't reciprocate? I really am directing this at 2 bloggers specifically but it goes for our failing community as a whole. There are so few of us left that we should be this tight knit group but thats not the case. It appears these days that everybody is out for themselves and damn the neighbors .There are 1000's of places for me to see pictures of anything any of you have to post. I look at these blogs and comment because we used to be a community and I enjoyed the interaction between all of us but that has gone the way of AOL .I know this all sounds harsh but its simply the way it is.

  1. That's a great point. I don't always do it every day but I do try to make sure to go back through at least every few days and respond to comments. Your absolutely right that "comments" are kind of the thanks every blogger gets for a post. I really wish there was a better was on blogger to check back on the comments I left for other blogs. Wordpress will message me back if I get a response but Blogger leaves no such option that I know of. Any thoughts?

    1. its something that blogger is lacking for sure. I basically just check the Notify me box and see all comments that go through onto a post ,its not a perfect solution but its the best they offer.Ive gotten the same way with responding I guess ,I go back and reply to several posts worth of comments at a time.

    2. I make it a point to always reply to my comments...except for that 2 months when I didn't realize Blogger wasn't emailing me when I had new comments!

As soon as I figured it out though I replied to everyone.

  2. I agree, somewhat.I mean,If a blogger just isn't interested In the post then he/she shouldn't be obligated to comment on it.On the other hand, when you've established friendships with bloggers and all of a sudden they don't reciprocate, you have to wonder if there was ever a friendship at all to begin with.My pet peeve Is bloggers who don't answer or follow up on comments. It's like "look what I got, love it,and leave a comment." With no response or acknowledgement. Not cool.

    1. ha yeah Im pretty sure that one of those blogger you are referencing is one that Im directing this post at. You ask for comments then you dont reply or comment on anybody else's blog and in reality the stuff they are posting isn't rare or fantastic in any way (and in most cases its something that I have)I mean I might just be bitter or the lack of sleep is getting to me. That custom is fantastic , not mine but I do plan on making one of my own.

    2. Remember when Reis had his video blog ,Hey Look At My Toys.He had a way of getting alot of people involved and at that time everyone was at least interacting.Jason Vorhees and John Gaither are the other two I miss having around.I never did join the dork horde but It was stuff like that that kept things new and interesting.Oh and that one girl,Shes Crafty was cool as heck! I'm telling you It's all Instagrams fault lol.I'm staunch In my blogging ways and now, with Halloween and X Mas on the horizon ,things may get a little better. It would also be cool If blogger added some new widgets, maybe something toy bloggers could utilize specifically.I'm not one for video cams and what not but maybe one day we could do a hangout session on Google Plus and see If anyone would be down.

    3. All people mentioned are people I knew / know personally .Jamie (Shes Crafty) really is a super awesome person and so is her fiance Shawn Robare from branded in the 80,s. I haven't talked to her in a while but last time I did she was getting so busy with her new job that blogging was nearly sidelined. Reis was / is a really good friend of mine (known him since 2008 ) He gave up on blogging but is active on facebook .He is a celebrity now so its harder to talk one on one with him.John was one of my first online trading partners and I do miss him being around. I miss the dork horde (I was a member)

    4. I miss the Horde and the League of Extraordinary Bloggers! I still follow Reis and it's insane how things have taken off for him since he went to work at Funko. He's livin the life! He was just in Singapore promoting his own vinyl figure, Tiny Ghost.

    6. See that my point exactly. You beg people for comments but then don't respond to them .These couple of bloggers they don't have blog lists they don't ever comment on other peoples blogs and they don't respond to the comments that the have solicited with a message asking for them on the blog. They live as if they are the only ones on the planet. Why come up with a meaningful comment if they don't even let you know they saw it? And really how can nobody's posts ever interest them when everybody basically posts the same stuff? I mean yeah Im not buying mint in the pack 12 back 9.9 graded star wars figures and opening them but at least one of the 1000's of things I own has to spark some kind of interest. On this blog I've posted things from the very most comment everybody has it down to one of a kind prototypes only I have ,I used to pride myself on having a wide variety of toys posts but still none of that is interesting enough to simply say neat or cool or I have that also? I think there is more to the blog community vanishing that other outlets.

    7. I went for thee most extreme example I could think of ;) I think anybody who did that would draw many many hateful comments from diehard collectors.

  3. It is tough to keep the blog going for me sometimes. I feel like I'm a dinosaur because I don't do videos. I'd love to I just don't have the time to put them together.
I do feel Insta is kinda taking over because it's so much easier to do a quick snapshot and post it.

    1. I don't do videos or podcasts and I dont instagram (I do not and never have owned a cell phone) .I basically enjoy taking pictures.I admit I have moved a large amount of my activity over to facebook groups. I was very hesitant to try them to start with but over the last couple of months I've found them to be pretty enjoyable.

    2. I own a cellphone but haven't moved over to a smartphone yet and really do not want to. I love blogging but I'm very hesitant to move to instagram. For me, I feel like blogging is not only a hobby but something that makes the hobby of toy collecting better. I try to write my reviews in such a way that they are helpful to a toy collector who may be trying to collect a certain line, identify accessories, complete a loose figure, or simply identify the history of the line. There are a few sites that offer that information but many of them are outdated. Social media posts just seem so "flash in a pan" you put it out there, get some likes, and then it disappears. I prefer an archive that folks can check out for years to come.

    3. For me the social media has been less about making a lasting post and more about going to where the people are. The very short time I have been involved with these facebook groups has had a fast and very significant impact on my collection.Meeting a large group of like minded people who deal quietly amongst themselves selling things for a fare price not an Ebay price. I have bought things from new friends for a price that you would never ever be see on ebay. paying 25$ for something that is listed for 175$ on ebay because thats how the community works, like minded collectors helping each other out and being human.I cant use instagram so I don't know anything about it so if it compares to pinterest in anyway you are still building a body of work but just one image at a time (don't get me wrong though because I really detest pinterest and wish there was an easy permanent way to remove it from google search) I just like to know Im not alone in the dark and if nobody want contact with anybody else on the only real way I communicate with people it makes me feel like the rest of the world has died and Im alone ( not a good feeling)

  4. I think blogging is pretty dead these days... the only way to get readers is to really get out there on social media and post links to your blog articles in groups where you think reside people that would be interested. I'm the new kid on the block and I am well aware of it. I know you just don't get the followers you once did and that people are quitting or moving to other platforms... I don't want to go to another platform I like this one and the way it works. I try to post stuff I care about and if people like it then they like if not well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'll just keep on keeping on. I am really glad to have the few of you that are following and posting on my blog doing so. I try to post on stuff interests me... but sometimes I just don't feel chatty.

    1. I definitely use my social accounts to post about my blog to try and bring more people in.

    2. I dont have any huge following on any social platform (excluding Google + and blogger) I have like 20 friends on facebook and I actually talk to every single one of them where on google (or even this blog) I haven't talk to like 95% of the people who follow me.

  7. I'm so sorry, I don't keep up with my blog much anymore. :( I still try to post like mad during October. Do you forgive me? No hard feelings? It's sad how everything seems to be going to Instagram.
