Id like to thank everybody who stopped by yesterday and took part in my little conversation, it was a great interaction that felt a lot like the old days!
No problem ;) I've been looking at some free forum sites .I'm really thinking about putting something together.Maybe a forum for collectors in general i.e. toys,sports cards,die cast cars, idk ?Any ideas?
It sounds interesting , I go to /toy/ on 4chan a lot. I like the basic formula that 4chan has set up but I do not like the trolls buttheads that frequent it. Years before I had this blog I was posting there.The idea to be all collectors is neat also because i collect a lot of stuff thats in no way action figure related.
I don't want it to be boring either.I would probably do a controversial Thursday thread and see if Hobby could lend his expertise in pissing people off lol.I didn't agree with a lot of what he said but damn it ,it was fun.Maybe he and Chris Maap could patch things up and contribute.Contests would be a good way to get members.I'd like for alot of people from blogger to join the forums as well as any newcomers.There is a site called lefora free forums.Could you do a little research on that?Maybe we can co host a site.If it bombs,well at least we tried.
I gave his controversial post a try yesterday and it was a huge success , though my topic wasn't anything that would get people mad but it did get people talking and it was great to see the turn out. we could do a weekly theme and maybe a monthly picture contest. But holding contests doesn't necessarily bring in the views because I can think of 2 places right off hand that only John and I ever looked at or took part in the monthly contests.
Well,you have my email,I still have yours.I can drop you any other ideas and/ or suggestions and maybe u can do the same.Let's agree on the thread topics,first contest ,forum name and then finalize everything.Hopefully other bloggers will chime in here with suggestions too.
Ill roll it around in my mind and see what comes out. Back in the old AOL chat room days I used to always make a room named "Collect this ,The collector collective" I always thought about reusing that name.
I suggest possibly creating a private Facebook page that you let the folks you want to chat/hang out with know about. If you want the conversation/discussion to be focused and limited to the small group of folks who really care about the subject matter (and to avoid or eliminate trolls.)
