From mediocre movie to mediocre toy line

Demolition Man and The last action hero are both from 1993 and both had a toy line made by Mattel.

Im not going to say these are the worst movies and action figures ever made but they are certainly not  the best . I still from time to time see full unopened cases of Last action hero figures at the flea market leading me to believe that these guys are not hot and highly sought after collectables. They are not so terrible or so awesome that they standout , They are just mediocre making them very easily forgotten.

  1. Are you kidding? I used to use the Ripper as a Batman villain! It is Tom Noonan for crying out loud! He was the Tooth Fairy in Manhunter. Yeah but the rest of the figures are terrible.

    1. I like Tom Noonan , He is in one of my favorite shows on tv right now but that figure is pretty blah.If you end up with a loose one missing the ax he looks like he is holding his junk because of the awkward position his hand are permanently in.

  2. Oh I wish I could visit those flea markets you say. Demolition Man was my favorite movie not so long ago, and the figures are bad, but not sooo bad. They're actually "He-Man: New Adventures" figures, and that's a plus. I wish I had John Spartan and Simon figures, just like everyone should have He-Man and Skeletor in their collections.

I also remember the other movie. I saw it once and I liked it (I was maybe 12). DM toys were never released in Spain, but TLAH's were.

    1. Their not terrible just plain and unextraordinary.Being recycled New Adventures is really the only noteworthy point to them. Not bad not good just so so.

  3. As far as movies goes i really like Demo Man but was never crazy about Last Action Hero. I always thought it was fun too that the Demo Man toys are actual re-used New Adventures of He-Man figures which makes them pretty interesting.

    1. That is their point of interest but also in a way what makes them mediocre, instead of coming up with something new they just stuck new heads on old body's. They are not terrible just average. As for the movies Im not big on Hollywood action films but they are not bad movies they are like the figures nothing special.

  4. Last Action Hero's probably my 3rd favourite Arnie film, and Demolition Man's not so bad either - it's got Glenn Shadix in it!

But yeah, I'll give you that one - those toys are dull. Besides the Ripper.

    1. Their not bad movies but they are also not the best and brightest examples of the genre. I guess I would put then as grey not the worst Iv seen not the best Iv seen.
Dull is a good way to put it, They are what they are.Not revelatory but on the same note not made of sticks and mud, They stand in the center as neutral.

  5. The Arnie likeness on the LAH toys is actually pretty good...

  6. Those figures were kind of horrid. I actually just recently sold off my LAH collection. I had everything! All the figures and the two vehicles. I enjoyed the movies, but the toys were very forgettable. Glad somebody took them off my hands.

  7. Does that last villain actually have interchangeable fake eyes? That seems... in poor taste.

I'm just kidding! It's kind of awesome!

  9. Yeh, I would have totally passed on these. I need my movie based figures to at least look a little bit like the characters on screen - okay, a lot like the characters on screen. And I have just about seen my last giant gun that shoots tiny darts. The play value of such a feature is so limited and so annoying.

    1. The firing missile is a greatly over used feature .My son doesn't even play with them when he gets a toy that has one, They go right into the giant bin of weapons.

  10. That is funny that the Cryo-Claw guy is a complete repaint of New Adventures He-Man toy called Flipshot with new weapons.
