Congo

The Congo toy line was made by Kenner in 1995 based on the movie.
These thing sat in the clearance bins at KB Toys for years and years and might still be there today if not for the store going out of  business. Most people will say the movie was horrible but Im a fan of Stan Winston's work and enjoyed it.

  1. Oh goodness! I've been away and have I missed some cool stuff on here! So I loved the Congo toy line. The book was actually one of the first long contemporary fiction books. I think I was in the 7th grade. I was thrilled when they made a movie and even more thrilled with the toyline! You have an impressive collection! I only have Karen and Peter. Oh and KayB was the best. I miss that toy store.

    1. I used to religiously check the clearance bins at the 4 KB Toys near me and I do really miss the store.I got the book Congo in the mid 80's basically just because I liked the cover and I dont think I made it all the way threw the book for a few year after I got it.

    2. KB was the best. I lived for that store. Best prices. They'd always have stuff from like ages ago. I remember seeing the TMNT Technodrome in the early 2000s still for sale.

    3. I would love to find it on mark down now! I bought my Dick Tracy figures at KB probably five years after the movie had came out.

  2. I missed your contest. I had computer problems for a couple of days there. But on Congo...I had the apes and a few of the humans. I used the apes for the Red Ghost apes and the humans were a ragtag outfit along with the Waterworld figures in a post apocalyptic future that I used in my playtime.

  3. I missed the contest too, but I've also tried contests in the past that have for some reason or another been ignored. Oh well, it's good karma anyways :)

    1. its strange indeed because who doesnt like free stuff? I think the problem with mine was I made the entry to qualify more than just posting yes or no . I think now easier is probably better.

    1. The jeep would work nicely with GI Joe :)As for the give away Don't worry about it, Im going to try again in the next few weeks and Ill give a few warnings before I do it. Next time Im going to label it boldly as a contest and just let it set over a weekend.

  6. That movie was wonderful. Ash, Lasers, Tim Curry and a lost city of treasure. You can't go wrong. I didn't even know there was a toyline for it.

Did you hear about the japanese company releasing a big model version of the monster from Relic soon? That is a bit late and unexpected...

    1. Its a great cast and a really fun movie ,I dont know why its considered one of the worst movies of all time.
No I hadn't heard about that yet! Iv seen some smaller models that didn't look so great but a huge well made one would be fantastic.

  7. Hang in there with the contest. It took awhile for me to start getting a good amount of entries on mine. You really have to promote the heck out of it on Twitter and other places.
Try checking out the app Rafflecopter which makes holding a contest very easy and you can give people multiple ways to enter such as following your blog, following you on twitter, commenting, etc

    1. I appreciate the suggestion but I dont think that's really the direction I want to go.I want people to follow my blog because they enjoy the content not because they see a chance for a freebie.

  8. Hi, great to see these figures after so many years... They're almost identical to Jurassic Park figures (also by Kenner). What surprises me the most is the Monroe figure, who has a gun that came (in many different colours) with G.I.Joes, and these were made by Hasbro, a concurrent toymaker.
