Summer vacation tv watching before cable

My family didn't get cable TV until 1987 .Before we had cable my summer  vacation days were spent mainly watching pbs because the other channels we had for the most part showed soap operas during the day. Here are a few of the shows I enjoyed in my precable childhood

Vegetable Soup. This show had some very crazy animation in it  but I cant seem to find a video of it.




 High Feather.I would watch just about anything that wasn't a soap opera back then.

The Voyage of the Mimi .This show had a child version of Ben Affleck.


3-2-1 Contact .I really loved the bloodhound gang.


reading rainbow. To tell you the truth I still like watching reruns this show

    My grandmother used to babysit me every day before school and during the summer. One of the only channels she had was PBS, so I grew up on all this stuff.

    Reading Rainbow was my favorite of the shows listed here, though 3-2-1 Contact has the cooler opening sequence.

      I kind of miss the old PBS days,Once we got cable I never watched anything but Nickelodeon.I didn't post my favorite (Read It with John Robbins) because I couldn't find a video to go with it.

    I only remember 321 and Rainbow, and I never watched Rainbow which is kinda ironic since I've been an avid reader since a young age.

    Man I had the biggest crush on Trini from 321. She had a bit part in The Warriors, how cool is that?

      Oh yeah Ginny Ortiz! She was definitely cute back then.Marcelino Sanchez was also in 3 2 1 contact and the Warriors. He was Rembrandt in the Warriors and Ricardo in the bloodhound gang.
