GreGory the Big Bad Vampire Bat

I received  Gre-Gory the  Vampire Bat for Christmas of 1979 ,I also got a stretch monster that Christmas .Both Gre-Gory and stretch monster had problems  from the time I opened them because my Mom hid my presents in an old freezer in a shed behind the house and they froze, stretch monster had little holes in him and leaked to death in a matter of days and Gre-Gory didn't pump very well but that really is a story for another time.

Gre-Gory The vampire bat was pretty much a distant relative of  masters of the universe Mosquitor, You would push a button on his back and watch the blood pump in his chest.

Other than the Gre-Gory that I had as a child (that disappeared at some point and I couldn't tell you when) I have never had my hands on or even been in the same room as another one so I guess these have became a rarity over the years.Has anybody out there ran across one in the wild lately?

  1. Never had a Gre-Gory or a Stretch Monster but i did have a Stretch Armstrong that i cut open with a knife to see what was inside of it and panic when it started too ooze it's insides out so i hid it in a box of Christmas Lights which my grandparents found a year later right before the holiday....All stuck together and old Stretch flat as a board. I got a long overdue spanking for that one! lol.

    1. Ha!I wonder how many people the stretch toys didn't end in a sticky disaster for. After the stretch monster mishap my parents still still bought me a Stretch X Ray a few months later and he fell to pretty much the same fate as stretch monster except a pencil was involved that time.

  2. I always wanted a Gre-gory but was also very happy with my Stretch Monster. Way better than Stretch Armstrong, which I also had.
I can't believe Marvel's never made a Mr Fantastic like that.

  4. I had two Gre-Gory bats as my dad worked for Mattel at the time. I believe they are both still out in the garage somewhere and one of them is still in the box.
