10 short lived cartoons from the 90's you might not remember

Its no secret that I'm an animation nut. I will watch anything that's animated whether its good or bad. Here are 10 shows that for the most part very few people remember.

Space Strikers  ,1995. This was basicly Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea in space. This show  had a toy line that I never saw in stores .

Skysurfer Strike Force ,1995. I hardly remember this show .this one also had a toy line that seems to have came and went with very little fanfare.

Captain Simian & the Space Monkeys, 1996. Not truly short lived due to the fact that it aired for 4 years but it is for the most part overlooked and hardly ever talked about. This show had an amazing toy line

Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm ,1996. I will say (and some will disagree) that this was truely a horrible cartoon. It lasted 13 episodes and Im surprised it aired that long.

Stunt Dawgs, 1992. This one was mildly amusing and received the comic book treatment from Harvey comics.

Free Willy , 1994. Not much to say on this one because it was every bit as bad as you might think...and I loved it.

Road Rovers , 1996. I really enjoyed this show but it only lasted one season.

Creepy Crawlers, 1994. This one is obscure but pretty cool. It had a toy line that is ridiculously difficult to find these days .

The Adventures of T-Rex , 1992 .I adore this show! I wish I could buy it on dvd. A toy line for the show exists but you might have better luck finding the ark of the covenant than a single figure to the toy line.

Monkey Magic, 1998. This is one of my all time favorite cartoons . I had 2 vhs tapes of the show that became unwatchable due to being watched hundreds of times. A PlayStation game was released even tho the show only lasted 13 episodes.

Well thats the 10 ,I think some of these shows really should have lasted longer then they did .

    1. Its crazy how many toy line have been made for cartoons that only lasted a few episodes. One of my favorite pastimes is trying to discover and acquire toys based on foreign shows that never aired in America.

  2. Weird! I've never even heard of most of these! Creepy Crawlers started out as a make-it-yourself kind of gross-out craft line, so the show and the action figures must have come later. I still remember the theme from the commercials: Cree-ee-eepy Crawlers!!!

And I never knew Mortal Kombat or Free Willy got cartoons.

Some of those others look right up my alley!

    1. A lot of people dont realize that creepy crawlers first appeared in the 60's and was made by Mattel but was later revived by ToyMax in the early 90's. With moral Kombat you weren't missing out on anything.
You should give both The Adventures of T-Rex and Monkey magic a shot , I think you will enjoy them :)

  3. I remember a few of these...

-Captain Simian & The Space Monkeys, didn't like it all that much.

-Stunt Dawgs, loud and obnoxious, like Saturday mornings should be! I remember one episode had a cameo appearance from Inspector Gadget.

-Creepy Crawlers, a wasted opportunity this one. REALLY bad character designs, to the extent I just didn't care.

-The Adventures of T. Rex, this was really good! When they weren't superheroes, they were in a Blues Brothers sort of band. I remember the main baddy had a massive head, and his henchmen were snakes in suits.

    1. With Captain Simian Im more into the action figures then the show, I only saw a few episodes and it was ok but not spectacular.

Stunt Dawgs was definitely aimed at people younger than me. It was a little over the top and its surprising to me that it didn't last longer just because of that.
Creepy Crawlers was goofy but it is a perfect example of the time period it was from .
The Adventures of T. Rex in my opinion is a masterpiece of its genre. it is one of those show that I tell anybody who will listen that they should watch it.

  4. Wow, I only saw MK and was somewhat aware of Captain Simian, never heard of the rest. I'm sure I would have watched Creepy Crawlers had I known about it.

    1. Its strange that so few people have heard of Creepy Crawlers it was on for two seasons and 23 episodes but it was on first thing Saturday morning on fox kids (6:30 or 7:00 if I remember right.)

  6. Wow. Normally I read these "cartoons you won't remember" posts and flip through it it saying "yep.. yep.. yep... been there.. done that". But I actually only knew three of these. I'm a huge fan of cartoon culture but the 90s are an admitted weak spot in my repertoire. Awesome post, thanks!

  7. Animated Free Willy could be part of a top 10 list of "Why did I watch that growing up?"

    1. The kind of sad thing about it is the fact that I was a full grown adult over the legal drinking age when I was watching it on tv.
